If you are a first-time formal employee registered under the EPFO, you might have noticed an incentive dashboard titled PMVBRY (Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana). Under this government initiative, fresh entrants to the formal workforce receive a direct financial incentive of up to ₹15,000 (equivalent to up to one month’s wage) directly into their savings.

Many employees are puzzled when they log in to check their dashboard and find their 1st installment marked as "Paid" while the 2nd installment displays a "Maturity Date" over 2 years away. Here is a complete guide to how your employee incentive is disbursed, why the second payment is locked for over two years, and how you receive the final money in your bank account.

1. How the Two Installments Work

The total employee incentive is distributed in two stages to support both your immediate career start and long-term financial security:

Installment	Eligibility Milestone	Where Does the Money Go?
Installment 1	Completed 6 continuous months of formal employment	Transferred directly to your bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Installment 2	Completed 12 continuous months of service + basic financial literacy module	Deposited into a mandatory interest-bearing lock-in account.

2. Why is the 2nd Installment Locked for 2+ Years (777 Days)?

On your member dashboard, the second installment shows a future maturity date instead of an instant bank transfer. Under the scheme rules, this second tranche is held in a dedicated government-backed deposit for a mandatory lock-in period of 777 days (roughly 2 years and 1.5 months).

Building Long-Term Savings: The objective is to prevent immediate expenditure and help new wage earners build an initial emergency or investment fund.
Full PF Interest Growth: Your money does not sit idle. Throughout the 777-day lock-in period, this deposit earns compounding interest at the official EPF (Provident Fund) interest rate.

3. How and When Does the Final Money Reach Your Bank?

No Manual Claim or Paperwork: Unlike regular Provident Fund advances or final settlement claims, you do not need to submit an online claim form.
Automatic Direct Credit: On your specified maturity date, the full payout—consisting of your Principal Installment Amount + Accrued PF Interest—is automatically transferred straight to your primary bank account via DBT.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What happens if I resign or leave my job before the 777 days are over?

Your locked funds remain 100% safe.

The 777-day lock-in is purely an investment holding window, not a requirement to stay with the same employer for another two years.
If your dashboard already reflects Installment 2 with a Maturity Date, your required 12 months of service have already been verified and approved.
Leaving your job, switching companies, or taking time off will not cancel or forfeit this deposit. The amount will stay invested, earn PF interest, and disburse automatically to your bank on the designated maturity date.

2. Can I break the lock-in and withdraw the second installment early?

No. Premature withdrawal, loans, or early account liquidation are not allowed during the 777-day window. The principal plus accumulated interest will unlock only on the exact maturity date shown on your portal.

3. Can my company take back or deduct Installment 1 if I resign?

No. Installment 1 was credited directly to you by the Central Government through Direct Benefit Transfer. Your employer has no claim, recovery power, or deduction rights over this benefit.

4. What happens if I change employers before completing 12 months?

To qualify for the second installment, your first 12 months of service must be continuous with the same establishment. If you resign before reaching the 12-month mark with your initial employer, you forfeit the second installment.

5. Can I get this first-timer incentive again if I switch to a new job?

No. This employee incentive is a one-time benefit granted once in a lifetime to formal workforce entrants. In subsequent jobs, your Universal Account Number (UAN) recognizes you as an existing member, making you ineligible for a repeat payout.

6. What should I do to ensure the payout credits smoothly on the maturity date?

Keep your primary salary bank account active with regular transactions so it does not turn dormant.
Ensure your bank account remains properly seeded and linked to receive Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT).
Keep your KYC details verified and up-to-date on the EPFO Unified Member Portal.
